INDIAN HILLS COZY HIDEAWAY! Welcome to Indian Hills, a small, secluded south Palm Desert gated community right up against the foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains. The 119 single-story condominiums are surrounded by acres of lushly landscaped rolling hills and spectacular mountain views. A quiet community for your stay in the desert with exceptional walking, biking, and hiking trails.

This condo has been in the owner’s family for three generations… aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, grandkids, cousins, etc. have spent over 30 years in and out of this home, sharing happy times and making countless memories. Now a bit less used but still dearly held by the remaining family members, this vacation home is available for our seasonal visitors, and we know you will love this home as much as love having it in our rental inventory.

The condo is “vintage” meaning much of the home is original from the mid-70s and the furnishings and contents, most of which are newer, keeps with a more “traditional 1970s” décor style. It’s Aunt Jann’s home, and for the family holding onto their cherished memories, that is how they would like to keep it. It is a charming property, squeaky clean, in perfect maintenance and oh so comfortable … perfect for your extended stay … and will probably remind you of “your” Aunt Jann’s home!

You enter the home to a very lovely living room and will immediately notice the wall of windows and a sliding glass door running along the back wall, letting in lots of natural sunlight. The living room has comfortable furnishings arranged around a sizable cable TV with Roku adaptor; so don’t forget your streaming apps. There is also a wonderful built-in library wall filled with great books and puzzles, high beamed ceilings and tasteful art, antiques, and family treasures. The fireplace is not operable but does add a beautiful focal point to the living room.

The dining room has seating for up to six and no 1970s condo would be complete without the very trendy wet bar! How else would you expect one to prepare the perfect Pina Colada, Sloe Gin Fizz or Tequila Sunrise?!

The kitchen has the original countertops and cabinets but many newer appliances. In this home, the updates have been made where it counts, and it shows in the kitchen which has been well stocked for everyday cooking as well as setting a nice table when entertaining. The cook in your family will not be disappointed. There is a sunny atrium just outside the kitchen window bringing in lots of light and a nice view for the cook!

Originally a three-bedroom, one room has been furnished as a den/office, leaving two bedrooms for sleeping. The den/office has a single sofa, a large desk and TV with DVR and cable channels. A little family history … Aunt Jann’s husband, Uncle Milton was a country club manager, and you just might recognize some of the local clubs he worked at in the pictures mounted above the desk! This room also looks out on the bright-sunny atrium. This room does not have a sofa-bed, but it does have a door that can be closed for privacy.

The primary suite has been furnished with a comfortable king bed, quality bedding and pillows and a “smart” TV with cable channels. The private en-suite has dual sinks and walk-in shower.

The guest bedroom has been furnished with a comfortable queen size bed with quality bedding and pillows.

The guest bathroom has a single sink and a shower/tub combination.

There is a two-car garage that is accessed outside the condo. A full-size washer and dryer are located inside the garage.

The oversized south facing back patio overlooks a greenbelt and runs along the Indian Hills perimeter wall. On the other side of the wall is the high-end community of Big Horn. This is an end unit, and the patio has a substantial wall with its one adjoining condo making it more private than usually found in condo communities. It is beautifully furnished with an outdoor sitting area with sofa and chairs and also has a propane BBQ grill (not pictured) and small dining table with seating for four. A great spot for lounging in the sun or dining al fresco under the stars!

This is a wonderful vacation home if you are looking for charm, comfort, and affordability, all in an absolutely gorgeous setting. The condo, even though somewhat dated, is truly a great home, well-kept and just has a good feeling about it. Upon walking in, it’s very inviting and you’ll immediately know why it is so well loved. It is a spacious 1,600 sq ft and there are two bedrooms plus a den/office that can comfortably sleep four. There is Wi-Fi and three TVs with cable channels. The living room and primary bedroom TVs have streaming capabilities. There is a landline with local calling only, so please bring your cell phone for any calls outside the desert cities.

Location – Location – Location … Google it and you will see how close it is to hiking trails and the community itself is perfect for walking and can even be a bit challenging with its rolling hills and greenbelts. There are six pools with spas spread throughout the community and during the winter, they alternate from year to year, which will be heated. (Please contact us for information on which pools are heated during your stay) There are also two tennis courts and two pickle ball courts … first come-first served, and there are players you can join! Just say hello … the community is very welcoming. If you’re looking for quiet relaxation, this is a perfect spot for you!

Indian Hills is a short 5-minute drive to El Paseo, shopping, dining, and entertainment and right in the very heart of the desert. You are also just 5 minutes from The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens … and on your way up HWY 74 to Lookout Point and Idyllwild in the San Jacinto Mountains.

Important Notes: The icemaker on the refrigerator is not working but there is a countertop icemaker that will provide all the ice you need. Tenant parking in the garage only and any short-term visitors should use the designated parking spots located by and across from the condo garage. Any visitors staying longer than two days will need to be reported to the HOA for security reasons and should park their car in the garage. Tenant vehicles with commercial advertising must be parked inside the garage. Also, large vans such as Mercedes Sprinter, campers and RVs are not permitted. As in most gated communities, there are strict traffic rules and infractions may be subject to fines.

SPECIAL NOTE: When planning your vacation, please take into consideration that there will be reseeding of golf courses and grassy areas in the desert during the months of September, October, and November. This means golf course closures, often for a month. If golf is part of your vacation, you will want to remember to ask about course closures. We will do our best to find out the closure dates or put you in touch with the golf club you are interested in, however, we are not affiliated with any of the golf courses and reseeding could be expedited or delayed due to weather or various reasons beyond our control. Neither the property owner or Vacation Rentals of the Desert can be held responsible for the closer of golf courses during your stay due to reseeding or other closures beyond our control.
